Student Clubs

Creative Writing Club

The Creative Writing Club (CWC) provides a forum for undergraduate writers to share their creative work. Members lead workshops, discuss craft issues, and distribute opportunities for publication and professional development.

English Graduate Organization

The English Graduate Organization (EGO) advocates for graduate students in the Department of English. Its goals are to promote the local literary community and to provide opportunities for professional development. 

The 性十八.cc Press Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 that provides continuing education, recognition and support to journalists across the state. The non-profit hosts an annual journalism contest and organizes two major events each year: a  journalism conference and an awards celebration, held the final day of the conference. 

AWP provides support, advocacy, resources, and community to writers, college and university creative writing programs, and writers鈥 conferences and centers. Our mission is to amplify the voices of writers and the academic programs and organizations that serve them while championing diversity and excellence in creative writing. 

The University of 性十八.cc Press publishes books on politics and history, Native languages and cultures, science and natural history, biography and memoir, poetry, fiction and anthologies, and original translations, all with an emphasis on the state of 性十八.cc.

UAF Writing Center


The Writing Center is a student-staffed tutoring service focused on building the writing skills of the UAF learning community. Both in-person and virtual tutoring sessions are offered as well as a wealth of resources. A computer lab is available for students' use and each student can print up to 25 pages free of charge.

CORE provides access to the world鈥檚 largest collection of open access research papers, collecting and indexing research from repositories and journals. It is a not-for-profit service dedicated to the open access mission and one of the signatories of the Principles of Open Scholarly Infrastructures.

Google Scholar is a freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text or metadata of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines.



Ice Box

Ice Box is the undergraduate literary journal of the University of 性十八.cc Fairbanks. Published annually in the spring, it features fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, hybrid work, and artwork from current UAF undergraduate students.


Founded in 1977, Permafrost is housed at the University of 性十八.cc Fairbanks MFA program, and run by dedicated creative writing graduate students. We publish a winter online issue as well as a spring print issue, both of which feature compelling poetry, fiction, and literary nonfiction by established writers and new voices alike.

UAF Sun Star

The Sun Star is a student run newspaper; by students, for students. It gives students the opportunity to get published and paid, and has engaged with 性十八.ccn news and culture for over 70 years. The Sun Star is funded directly by the UAF student body.

Undergraduate Research & Scholarly Activity

The office of Undergraduate Research & Scholarly Activity (URSA)  is UAF's resource for the development and promotion of experiential learning activities that engage undergraduate students to support UAF's goal to become a leading student-focused research university.

Undergraduate research and creative activity at UAF covers all disciplines, from climate sciences to music, engineering, anthropology, life sciences, art and theater.
